Meet a Keypather: Joey Chan

What is your role at Keypath, and what does a day in the life of you here at work look like?

A typical day at Keypath for me mainly involves consultations with prospective students. I provide guidance and advice from the initial enquiry to the application process and through to enrolment to ensure students have a smooth transition in beginning their studies.

What is the most crucial skill someone in your job needs?

I think the most crucial skill needed for this role is communication. We speak to students and different partners daily and especially when it’s something like education, it is important we communicate effectively with them while informing them of any new or specific details which may impact them.

Out of Keypath’s four core values, I resonate most with being collaborative. I’m fortunate to work with a passionate team where everyone is so different and unique, and we all bring something to the table. We often get together to discuss and exchange ideas and what we can do that benefits our own work as well as the business.

How has Keypath aided your professional development or growth as a person?

Working here at Keypath has helped further develop my self-management skills and independence as I am trusted with what I do. Hitting targets and KPIs is another aspect that keeps me motivated and ensures I keep myself in check. It is also a different field of work to my previous job but still allows me to transfer and improve those skills to a new line of work.

How does your role help our students succeed?

My role helps students succeed because the Student Enrolment Advisor is the first point of contact. Through consultations, we discover the students’ needs and learning objectives and assess their suitability to ensure it aligns with their goals before they decide they want to undertake the course. By demonstrating patience, customer service and providing the relevant information, students can make informed decisions that will inevitably impact their future.

What’s your favourite thing about working at Keypath?

My favourite thing about working at Keypath would be the culture and the people. It’s great to be part of a company that look after their people as I genuinely enjoy my time here. The company focuses on their employees and ensures we are well looked after, whether that may be providing breakfast and occasional lunches/drinks, to management’s friendliness and approachable manner.
