What is your role at Keypath, and what does a day in the life of you here at work look like?

As part of the HR Team, I'm working as an Internal Recruitment Consultant, which means I'm responsible for all Recruitment related activities here at Keypath. This includes taking full ownership of the recruitment and onboarding function, managing the end-to-end recruitment process (sourcing, screening, interviewing and offer management) and providing support to the business on a daily basis. I'm working closely together with our functional leaders and managers to understand their hiring needs and to help them hire the best talent on the market.

On a typical day, I'm spending most of my time sourcing candidates (through job ads, LinkedIn and employee referrals), conducting phone screens, setting up and conducting interviews and liaising with the hiring managers and candidates. I usually come in early in the morning, and I start my day by jumping on SEEK and LinkedIn to go through the most recent applications and doing most of the HR admin. Then comes the fun part with all the phone conversations and interviews, so the next thing I notice is that it's already 5 pm and the day has gone :) (I guess this is a good sign!)

What is the most important skill someone in your job needs?

Great question. I think there are many important skills in this role, but I'd say the most important is communication. To be successful as a Recruiter, you have to be assertive, clear, confident and precise in your communication. You can use the latest technology and tools, get the best support from your manager, but if you are not listening to what your candidates and the hiring managers are telling you, you won't get great results.

Out of Keypath's four core values, which resonates with you most and why? (be inventive, collaborate, lifelong learner, committed)

Although I like being inventive, collaborative and learning new things every day, being committed resonates with me the most. In my role as a Recruiter, I try to go the extra mile every day and provide as much support to our hiring managers as possible. I'm also committed to give excellent customer service to our candidates, answer all their questions during the recruitment process and provide them with feedback, whether they were successful or not.

How has Keypath aided your professional development or growth as a person?

Although I've been working at Keypath for only a short time, I feel I've been on an exponential learning curve, both as a professional and as a person. I'm learning a lot from my peers, managers and candidates as well – I guess the best part of recruitment is that you're speaking with hundreds of people every week and this gives you the chance to hear about so many stories and journeys that teach me something new every day. Thanks to the continuous support I receive from all of my colleagues (not only here in Australia, but from the US as well) I really feel I can do my best at my job.

How does your role help our students succeed?

While I'm not in direct contact with our students, I'm responsible for finding and recruiting those professionals who make a direct impact on our students' lives daily. Even though I'm not speaking with our students, I feel that I still contribute to Keypath's success by finding the best employees to the business who will be able to provide an excellent student experience.

What's your favourite thing about working at Keypath?

It's tough to name one, as there are so many favourite things! I could pick the friendly and supportive working culture, the great office space, the empowered leadership style, but I guess my favourite thing about Keypath is the strong collaboration we have within the business. It's a great feeling to come to work knowing that everyone is in the same boat, and we have the same goals to reach. Our office space is set up for collaboration, which means that all of our staff sits on the same floor, including our senior leaders, directors and CEO as well. I always feel I can turn to my colleagues with any questions and no matter what challenge we have, we'll solve that together!
